I realize that snow is less exciting for those of you up north or in the midwest, but here in North Carolina we consider three snow days and 5+ inches an epic event. Sadly it's all melting now, but I got to try out my new Gentian while it lasted. I'm so glad to be feeling well again. Illness has a way of making you forget that good things are on the horizon. Some of my favorite things from the last week, to encourage more good feelings:
+ I've begun working on my February hat and continue to love working with the Plymouth Worsted Merino Superwash. This is my last skein, so I'd better make it count.
+ The worst part of being ill twice since the beginning of the year is that I haven't felt like reading until recently. So far I'm enjoying The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert. Do yourself a favor and don't hold that other book against her; you know the one I mean.
+ Splurging on knitting patterns is a great way of treating yourself, I think. Carrie Bostick Hoge sent out a Valentine's treat in her newsletter in the form of a 20% off coupon so I quickly purchased Uniform and Liv. Unlike cut flowers or candy, knitting patterns won't go bad!
+ Bill gave me a sweet Valentine's gift from Artifact Uprising: a selection of Instagram pictures of us and our cats printed on heavy card sock. Prints of digital pictures are always the best present, to me (aside from books and yarn).
+ And to continue the splurging and pampering, I finally purchased some Brooklyn Tweed Shelter in Thistle. I've never purchased yarn without feeling, squishing, and pawing over it in a yarn store, but I've heard nothing but great things about Shelter. Seeing Caitlin's in-progress Alloy certainly gave me some much-needed online ordering courage.
